5. Currencies and VAT
Multiple
Currencies
The ClientSHOP service can support multiple currencies. By default these
include the British Pound, Euro and US Dollar. Others can be added on
request. You control the exchange rates to use and you can change them
as often as you like.
Your default currency is whichever you define as having an exchange
rate of 1. When a customer selects a currency (if you allow multiple currencies
on your site) then the prices are simply multiplied by these exchange
rates and the correct symbol applied - £, € or $.
If you only want to use a single currency then that is also fine.
VAT
Calculations for EU Countries
If you and your customer are both in the EU and you are VAT registered
then VAT must be charged. The rules are relatively straight forward
- If you and your customer are in the same country then VAT is charged
at your country's rate.
- If your customer is in another EU country then VAT is charged at 0%
as long as your customer is VAT registered.
- If your customer is in another EU country but is not VAT registered
then you must charge VAT at your country's rate.
To enable this option you just need to enter your country's VAT rate
and select your home country. If you are not VAT registered or you are
based outside the EU then just leave this option disabled.
